Car Sick

I am in the back of my mom’s car and I’m so short that I can see my feet without looking for them. My dad is driving, and I feel my breakfast arguing with my tummy. We are heading south to my Auntie’s house in Kelso, WA. The road down, highway 101, is twisty and turny, and my hair starts to stick to my hot face. My mom is telling my dad to slow down because I’m turning green, and, “you remember what happened on 101 the last time.” I look at my reflection in the window, and I am red, not green, what is mom talking about? But the trees whoosh by in green and brown so fast that I look back over at my feet, leaving behind the small bit of fog my hot breath had made on the window. My tennis shoes with Velcro, my socks, my stretch pants with flowers, my fingers, my long, fuzzy hair, resting all around me, my pink wind-breaker... I try to think about these things and not my tummy. The car slows down, but continues to rumble. I sway back and forth with the ride, and I must be falling asleep.
Bits and pieces of this memory stick in my head just the way the hair stuck to my face. Each time I begin to get motion sickness, the sultry feeling in my mouth, my clammy face, my breakfast trying to convince my stomach that their relationship is worth a second chance… these things all rush back to me. I remember that I fogged the window because my hair had stuck to that, too, briefly. I learned that day how my dad drives so fast, but he will slow down for his baby girl. I fight for the front whenever I know the road would be twisty. Either that, or I’m the one driving.

Frisbee!

We went to the park to play frisbee yesterday. I got some neat pics of the guys, and Les took a couple of me. Want to see?

Another Day Another Quarter

So, I finished Spring Quarter 2011 today.
WOO!! That's me, being excited. Yep. Haha!

So, in other news, the weather has been actually pretty warm. Les took me with him on his car run he went on with 360.

That photo was taken from Les's car, so obviously Les's car isn't in the picture haha. We drove down to Rosario beach in Anacortes, Wa. We didn't know too many people there, but it was fun anyway. It was a potluck, so we brought chicken salad (which I had cleverly moved from the deli container to a tupperware just before we left) and chips. I would have made something, if I had known in time that it was a pot luck and that I was going. But it was more spontaneous than that! Which is always fun anyway, haha!

We played frisbee in the sun, and we got crazy sunburned! (It's funny that it's sunburned not sunburnt but food gets burnt not burned.)

The warm weather has also given us plenty of chances to open the door and let air into the house, which really makes the animals excited. The only reason I really wanted to tell you that is cuz I wanna show you this super cute picture!

Ok, I think I'll check out of this blog on that note. Thanks for reading!! Please check a box below!!

Pine and Cedar Trail - Bellingham

Today I hiked Pine and Cedar trail with 41 sports :)

We ended up going all the way to Raptor Ridge which was really cool regardless of being super sweaty and it taking an hour or so to get there!! I even ran a lot of the way up! :)

Then of course we had to go back down, which wasn't too bad, except I'm a bit scared of going down. Since it's steep up hill the whole way up, that means I walked pretty much the whole way back. This might seem backwards to some people. However. We all have our fears, and I just happen to be afraid of running down a trail when there's a bluff on the side and I tend to trip walking. Haha.

Here's Amy (left) and me (right) at the top of Raptor Ridge.

After that, and taking the guys to the highland games, I took a long shower and got dressed. I had to go to campus and work on some homework with my awesome friend Ali. I felt really good, though slightly overwhelmed, about my accomplishment that morning. About our accomplishment as a team, too. Amy and I have come a long way since we started. I kinda felt like jumping and dancing up there, but it was making the ladies nervous that I stood close to the edge, so I figured they might put me on a leash if I tried anything like that! LOL!

I snapped a picture of me when I got home, all proud of myself. That smile's kinda been there on and off all day long. Have a good rest of your weekend everybody!

Today, it was gorgeous outside.

It was probably 65 degrees, maybe warmer. The sun was beating down on Bellingham. I think I even got a little bit of a tan at boot camp this morning.
The wind began to pick up a little this afternoon, but I hopped on my scooter and headed to campus for my fiction-writing class.  I was walking to the building that my classroom was in, when I passed my class sitting in a circle in the grass. That's how nice it was. My class decided to meet outside. I plopped in the grass with everyone and slowly a cloud, a very large cloud, began to cover the sun. It was still peeking out here and there, when suddenly, ominous, over everyone's voice, was the sound of thunder.
We were work-shopping stories, see, and someone was trying to talk, and the thunder interrupted them, like when you are at a party that serves root beer, and right in the middle of your sentence someone behind you drains the remainder of their can into their belly and then demonstrates its effects.

This kept happening, and by about the third time, we all had our coats on. Wishful thinkers, this group was, though. We kept sitting out there, letting the sky interrupt us. Finally, it started sprinkling, and we meandered inside to finish class, the thunder shooing us in the door, angrily.

Les texted me while we were in class. "Don't ride home txt me I will come get you thunder and lightning out right now"  ...aww what a sweetie :)

When class let out, I gave him a call, then walked down to where I parked my scooter. It had poured while we were in class, but it was only sprinkling bits here and there, now. The sun was shining again, bright as ever. When Les got to campus, I told him I could probably drive it in this weather and asked him if he'd follow me home and we'd drive careful. He obliged, and the ride wasn't actually that bad. Actually, as soon as I parked the darn thing it stopped sprinkling altogether and the sun started to burn the water off my helmet.

Gotta love Washington. :)

Sequim Trip

Les and I took a (very) short trip to Sequim on Friday. First, we went to my parent's house. That was fun. Mom and Dad are on a new diet, and I watched them choke down some spinach salad w nothing on it but some beef strips. Hehehe. Les's mom came by and we all visited for a bit, talking about this, that, and everything. Then we went to applebees, and managed to get about 15 or 16 people together. It was pretty sweet, though I am sure we forgot a few people. I didn't mean anything by it, but it was really last minute.

Speaking of last-minute, I also took some crappy, blurry cell phone pics as kind of an after thought. Here, look at them! *shoves album at you*
Sorry if you were there and you aren't in the picture. I tried like hell to get everyone to pay attention and smile but it wasn't really working lol.

After Sequim, we went to Seattle for Ally's birthday. Her party didn't start till 6 but we had no idea how bad traffic would be so we left fairly early on Saturday. We got to Seattle and drove around, went to south center (I miss that mall!) and to the big Lover's store (ooh-lah-lah haha) and to Uwajimaya's.

On our way to meet up with Ally, we hit a pot hole. The pot hole made something in Les's dash come ungrounded or something like that, and then that thing blew a fuse. Then we had no lights, no sound... and we were like wtf?? (Like why would a pot hole blow a fuse?) Took a bit but we got it figured out and fixed up. Woot :)

Ally's birthday was at "Papa's" and Les bought her a drink, then we got on the road. We had to get home before it got too late!

We had to stop and fix the lights some more because they weren't all the way fixed, then we were able to get on the road. When we got home, I went pretty much straight to bed. It had been a long, super fun couple of days.
