Does it feel like this blog died?

Well it shouldn't!

I have been keeping delightfully busy.

Did I tell you Ein broke his leg? I Can't remember. Anyway, this cone gave him a nasty hot spot on his neck because he would play in his water dish and get the water all inside the cone and it would just pool there under his chin.

Also he got neutered.

Now he is wearing an inflatable cone. He doesn't really like me taking his picture lately because he would much rather get all snuggly in my face. But I did manage to get one. :)

Anyway, I also recently got a job. I work at Walmart in the deli. Come ask me to slice you some meat, or cheese... or get you some popcorn chicken. :)

You know, it occurred to me today that there aren't a lot of people my age who actually go to the deli. Did you know you can pick out a block of cheese just over in the cheese department, or a chub of meat, and you can bring it to the deli of the grocery store and say, "I want this sliced, please," and give them special instructions on how thick you want it and everything? They will do it. Free. They just put the label from the package in/on the bag after they slice it for ya and you take it to the register.

Sweet.

I didn't know that. I knew they'd cut you some meat that they have in the deli case, but I didn't know that they'd do the other stuff too. I guess that's a pretty universal deli thing.

Anyway, I also make salads and sandwiches. They are the "made fresh today" stuff from the cold shelves.

And I will soon learn to cook rotisserie chicken, fried rice, orange chicken, mashed potatoes, popcorn shrimp.... etc.

I've been learning a lot about Sam Walton and about Walmart since I work there now. I actually really like what I am learning. Granted, of course there are employees who have bad experiences, and customers... but that's all over the world. The fact that what they aim for is really great, that makes me happy.

And they are really really strict on taking your 15 minute breaks and your lunch breaks. Which is refreshing, because I heard talk that this wasn't the case. However, if you work longer than 5 hours without taking a lunch break, there are consequences.

Plus there are lots of ways to move around within the company.

So I am new at the store, I get that. I will probably get a little frustrated eventually, particularly with hair nets and stuff, but I haven't heard hardly any complaints from any employees, and every single manager has been nice to me so far. Sweet!

I have also heard a lot of bad things about their code of ethics. To me it sounds wonderful. We will see if it works if I ever am in need of it.

I'll have to finish this blog another day. I want to talk about my awesome grad party, and our trips shooting, and maybe even my birthday.. but I abandoned this blog post and just came back to it and it is 2:40 and I gotta get up in the a.m.

Night!
