It was probably 65 degrees, maybe warmer. The sun was beating down on Bellingham. I think I even got a little bit of a tan at boot camp this morning.
The wind began to pick up a little this afternoon, but I hopped on my scooter and headed to campus for my fiction-writing class. I was walking to the building that my classroom was in, when I passed my class sitting in a circle in the grass. That's how nice it was. My class decided to meet outside. I plopped in the grass with everyone and slowly a cloud, a very large cloud, began to cover the sun. It was still peeking out here and there, when suddenly, ominous, over everyone's voice, was the sound of thunder.
We were work-shopping stories, see, and someone was trying to talk, and the thunder interrupted them, like when you are at a party that serves root beer, and right in the middle of your sentence someone behind you drains the remainder of their can into their belly and then demonstrates its effects.
This kept happening, and by about the third time, we all had our coats on. Wishful thinkers, this group was, though. We kept sitting out there, letting the sky interrupt us. Finally, it started sprinkling, and we meandered inside to finish class, the thunder shooing us in the door, angrily.
Les texted me while we were in class. "Don't ride home txt me I will come get you thunder and lightning out right now" ...aww what a sweetie :)
When class let out, I gave him a call, then walked down to where I parked my scooter. It had poured while we were in class, but it was only sprinkling bits here and there, now. The sun was shining again, bright as ever. When Les got to campus, I told him I could probably drive it in this weather and asked him if he'd follow me home and we'd drive careful. He obliged, and the ride wasn't actually that bad. Actually, as soon as I parked the darn thing it stopped sprinkling altogether and the sun started to burn the water off my helmet.
Gotta love Washington. :)

Sequim Trip
Les and I took a (very) short trip to Sequim on Friday. First, we went to my parent's house. That was fun. Mom and Dad are on a new diet, and I watched them choke down some spinach salad w nothing on it but some beef strips. Hehehe. Les's mom came by and we all visited for a bit, talking about this, that, and everything. Then we went to applebees, and managed to get about 15 or 16 people together. It was pretty sweet, though I am sure we forgot a few people. I didn't mean anything by it, but it was really last minute.
Speaking of last-minute, I also took some crappy, blurry cell phone pics as kind of an after thought. Here, look at them! *shoves album at you*
Sorry if you were there and you aren't in the picture. I tried like hell to get everyone to pay attention and smile but it wasn't really working lol.

After Sequim, we went to Seattle for Ally's birthday. Her party didn't start till 6 but we had no idea how bad traffic would be so we left fairly early on Saturday. We got to Seattle and drove around, went to south center (I miss that mall!) and to the big Lover's store (ooh-lah-lah haha) and to Uwajimaya's.
On our way to meet up with Ally, we hit a pot hole. The pot hole made something in Les's dash come ungrounded or something like that, and then that thing blew a fuse. Then we had no lights, no sound... and we were like wtf?? (Like why would a pot hole blow a fuse?) Took a bit but we got it figured out and fixed up. Woot :)
Ally's birthday was at "Papa's" and Les bought her a drink, then we got on the road. We had to get home before it got too late!
We had to stop and fix the lights some more because they weren't all the way fixed, then we were able to get on the road. When we got home, I went pretty much straight to bed. It had been a long, super fun couple of days.

Vitani and The Thing.
So, we have this thing called the thing. It's pretty sweet. The door opens and turns into a little desk thing, and there are shelves you put on it and you put stuff on it. Well anyway, my parents brought it up a couple weeks ago, and shortly after this happened. Vitani managed to get herself on TOP of this thing. Since so many people enjoyed the battle for the pridelands, I thought you might like to see Vitani and her adventures in getting off the thing.
Enjoy <3
Trying different corners to see if it gets any easier that way. |
Finally!!! I missed the perch she was in just before she finally got down, but she got down from the middle of the front... if that makes sense haha |

Epic battle for the pridelands...
Vitani sits, jealous, in the outlands, eyeing Kiara's position atop pride rock. |
Kiara looks back at her. |
"Bitch, I dare you." she beckons. Vitani tries to sneak up on her... |
...but her attempts are weak and kiara slams her back down. She clings to pride rock begging for her life... |
Then she realizes there's a ledge below and tries to come up from the bottom... |
She makes it on top of pride rock, and Kiara is not happy! |
"BITCHSLAP" says kiara "nnnoooooo" cries vitani |
the epic battle continues.... |

Picnic!
Yesterday, I called Les after my first class, and I said "Les, I can't do it."
"Can't do what?" he asked.
"I can't go to my next class."
That's right. I skipped a class. We're allowed to miss 3 without effecting our grade, so I really don't feel like I did a bad thing. The sun hadn't been so vibrant in oh, I don't know... forever?! But I don't have to justify my actions to you, so we will leave it at this simple fact - I skipped class on a sunny Friday afternoon.
So I hopped on my scooter and rode back home, and Les and I went to the grocery store. I grabbed a salad, he grabbed a sandwich, and we took off down Chuckanut.
We went for a cruise all the way past the oyster farm to the bridge thingie where it becomes more of a straight-away, and then we backtracked and pulled off in (you guessed it) a pull off. It had a pretty view, and we sat on a rock and we talked about stuff... everything from our future wedding and travel plans to work and school.
Finally, I put the picnic stuff away, and handed Les my phone to take a picture of me, then I took a picture of him, and we drove back home to catch the ski to sea junior parade!
Here, pics of us where we had our picnic!

Scooter!
Whenever the weather is nice like this, I take my scooter wherever I need to go! (Except the grocery store. Too many groceries hahaha!) You should see me trying to balance with my critical theory textbook in my backpack. It's pretty special! I'll get Les to take some pics of me with my scooter and edit them in later, but this will do for now!

Shooting
Sorry for so many posts so quickly, but I've just already been involved in so many adventures that I want to catch you up!
Photo credit to my fiancé, Les. Awesome right?! I didn't get a good picture of one of his shots, but here's a picture of him aiming with his rifle.
Here's another recent one - shooting! Les bought me a 22 long rifle, and he's been teaching me to shoot!

41 Sports Fitness Bootcamps
One of my adventures these days is weight loss! To accomplish my goals, I've been going to boot camp with 41 sports. I'm also strengthening my body, specifically my arm, and it's really exciting! So far I have lost about 50lbs.
I'm not at my goals yet, but I'm excited to have come this far! Tomorrow is "Bring a friend to bootcamp day" so I'm going to bring my friend Ali from school. She's a martial artist, so she should be able to keep up pretty well. :)
(I have the strong urge to say... and that's what you missed onnnn *glee!* haha)

Ukulele Adventure!
I've been wanting to learn a new instrument for quite a while. I love my sax, but... it shouldn't be the only thing I can play. I've always been intrigued by stringed instruments, but I have limitations as far as my hand and arm movements go, and I was letting that hold me back. Well I won't be held back any more! I've come to the conclusion that even if I can't do everything, I can try everything!! Nobody can do everything - that's crazy talk. Everything that interests me from now on, though, I'm gonna give it my best shot, starting with the ukulele!!
Ok I guess it's not starting with that, I've been on this mission for a while. More on that later, though. Gotta get going!
Me and my Ukulele! Wish us luck! |
